Color Spots 6 x 6 inches, Oil Pastel on Linen
Another in this ongoing journey of intuitive painting with oil pastels. Somehow, this particular painting ended up with several more complex, intensely colored areas within areas. With these paintings, if I feel called to do something or use a certain color, I try not to question it and just go with the impulse before my mind has time to censor or argue it away. This way of working requires trusting that I intuitively know what the painting needs...what the next right thing is. These paintings are all about the journey and not at all about the destination though it is fun when something develops that I like and others enjoy as well. My only goal is to stay as awake and alive as I can in the process.
